We support the Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) in Cocles, Costa Rica, a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals. With a focus on monkeys, sloths, birds, reptiles, amphibians and other mammals, the JRC provides veterinary services, round-the-clock care and comfort to animals that would otherwise be unable to survive in the rainforest or the waters of the Caribbean. In 2021 alone, the JRC received 853 animals.
With the growing population and construction in the surroundings, we rescue, rehabilitate and release more and more animals every year. We need more space to build enclosures for rehabilitation and preparation for eventual release. Surrounding the Jaguar Rescue Center is 5000 acres of available secondary forest that we urgently need.
Efficiency is key in an animal rescue center. Preparing meals for an average of 300 animals is a huge task can you imagine doing it in a tiny space! Miracles happen every day, but our current installations need some love and attention.
The Jaguar Rescue Center has been receiving more and more animals every year. We have been able to manage thus so far. However, several improvements and renovations are needed to allow us to keep up. The renovation and improvements would allow more quarantine enclosures, more space for treatments, surgeries with state-of-the-art equipment.
Outreach work with the local community of the South Caribbean region of Costa Rica promotes the importance of environmental protection and biodiversity to members of the community.
Thanks to your donations we can assist different projects specialized in wild animal life rescue.
